Papers of John Coalter Bryan [manuscript], 1849-1850.

Letters written by John Coalter Bryan while a student at the University of Virginia. His first letter home to his father, John Randolph Bryan, dated 1849 September 30, he writes of his matriculation, his room, and his being invited to take tea with Professor Harrison. The second, to his mother, Elizabeth Tucker Coalter Bryan, dated 1850 February 23, he writes "that Dr. Schele was knocked down last week by one of the students who was amusing himself by riding the Drs. horse about at night..." Also included is a note with family identifications on it.
